WHNT has elevated its assistant news director to the news director position in Huntsville, Ala.
Paul Caron will oversee all aspects of the newsroom and will report to general manager Stan Pylant.
“Over the last few months I’ve had a chance to watch Paul lead the day to day direction of our newsroom as well as deliver on our promise to be the station viewers turn to in times of severe weather, breaking news and holding the powerful accountable. His extensive background in news, along with his vision for leading our team to audience growth on all platforms, makes him the right person for the job,” said Pylant.
“I am thrilled and honored to lead a great group of broadcast and digital journalists. WHNT News 19 has been committed for decades to excellent journalism and serving the community,” said Caron.
Caron has held the assistant news director role since 2017. He’s been recognized with several Peabody and Emmy Awards. He holds a BA from Michigan University.
