Howard Dorsey is joining KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, as the assistant news director. His first day will be September 16.
“Howard is a seasoned and knowledgeable newsroom manager, who I’m excited to welcome aboard,” vice president and news director Robert Morford said in a statement. “His passion, depth of experience and his ability to lead made him the ideal candidate to help drive our news product forward.”
Dorsey comes to Houston from New York City, where he has been an executive producer at CW affiliate WPIX for three years. He has also worked at News 12 New Jersey, WNCN in Raleigh, ABC News and ESPN.

FOX 26 NAMES HOWARD DORSEY ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR
HOUSTON – Howard Dorsey has been named Assistant News Director of KRIV FOX 26, announced Robert Morford, the station’s Vice President and News Director. Dorsey assumes this position on Monday, September 16th.
In making the announcement, Morford stated, “Howard is a seasoned and knowledgeable newsroom manager, who I’m excited to welcome aboard. His passion, depth of experience and his ability to lead made him the ideal candidate to help drive our news product forward.”
Most recently, Dorsey served as Executive Producer for WPIX-TV for the past three years. Prior to that, he was Executive Producer for News12 New Jersey and Web Managing Editor for WNCN-TV in Raleigh, NC. Earlier in his career, Dorsey was Senior Producer for ABC World News Now and Coordinating Producer for ESPN. Dorsey has held Managing Editor/Executive Producer positions at KXAS-TV in Dallas and WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. He has also been Executive Producer for WCBS-TV in New York, Assistant News Director/Executive Producer for WXIX-TV in Cincinnati and Managing Editor for WSB-TV in Atlanta. Dorsey began his career as a Production Assistant and then was promoted to Assignment Editor followed by Assignment Manager for WBBM-TV in Chicago.
Added Dorsey, “I look forward to joining a news team known for such a superior news product. I am also excited to continue KRIV’s growth and to create some new and different additions to an already excellent station lineup.”
Dorsey majored in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Illinois and studied Radio and Television at the University of Central Florida.
