How One Station Used Facebook Live to Announce Anchor Hiring

By Kevin Eck

When Jason Carr went from morning anchor at Fox-owned WJBK to digital anchor at Graham Media Group owned WDIV, he took thousands of fans along with him through Facebook Live.

This morning Carr anchored The Nine on WJBK, signed off, said goodbye to viewers, hopped into a car, fired up his Facebook Live and live streamed his trip to WDIV where he started another live stream on his WDIV Facebook page.

“It was Jason’s idea,” WDIV creative services & programming director, Jamie Kaye Walters told TVSpy. “A key group of managers had lunch with him and he mentioned the idea and we all loved it.”
