Dan Cohen, the weekend sports anchor at Rockford, Ill., NBC affiliate WREX, is super popular with the under-18 crowd.

This was apparent last night when students from Rockford Lutheran High School dressed up like the sportsman at a basketball game. They had it all: his signature thick-rimmed glasses, suits, even a WREX television set with scripts.

The “Dress Like Dan Cohen” theme helped propel the Lutheran Thunders to a 70-59 win over Byron. Cohen was touched by the students’ effort.

“I’ve been here for a year now, I had no idea this was gonna happen my first year working at 13. It blew me away. They had the desk, they had the scripts, they dyed their hair. I am truly speechless. It was pretty great tonight.”
