Twenty-two Hearst stations are partnering with The Weather Channel give viewers expanded weather information and help local business more directly market to consumers.

Local stations will be able to target the user base of The Weather Channel online and mobile applications based on the user’s location or on the weather based on “sophisticated triggers that take into account sales activity in addition to weather conditions.”

“This partnership leverages the national scale of The Weather Channel digital operation, while tying in the community knowledge of a strong media brand like KMBC,” said Ryan Davis, vp of The Weather Channel’s Local Platform in a press releases from the Kansas City ABC affiliate. “We both care deeply about weather and how it impacts the daily lives of our audience. It’s a perfect fit.”
