Hearst Adds to Corporate News Team

Hearst Television has announced three promotions to its corporate news team.

Barbara Maushard has been named svp of News, WCVB news director Andrew Vrees has been named vp of News and KCRA news director Lori Waldon has been named regional director of News.

“We consider this team to be the gold standard in local television news,” said Jordan Wertlieb, Hearst Television president. “Barb and her colleagues throughout the Hearst Television group have done a superb job providing viewers award-winning local journalism, impacting the communities we serve. Along with Candy’s continued contributions and the addition of two accomplished news executives in Andrew and Lori, Hearst Television is well positioned for the future as we expand our news product on all platforms.”

Maushard will continue to set strategy for Hearst’s 29 news operations and will also oversee the expanded corporate level news team.

Hearst will begin looking for a news director for WCVB to replace Vrees, who will stay in Boston while guiding newly assigned stations.

Waldon adds oversight of of KOAT in Albuquerque-Santa Fe, N.M. and KSBW in Monterey-Salinas, Calif. while staying on as news director of Sacramento, Calif.
