Hartford’s WTIC Expands Morning Newscast

By Merrill Knox

WTIC, the Fox-affiliate in Hartford, is revamping its morning news hours beginning next Monday.

Currently, the station’s morning show airs from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., leading in to syndicated programming from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 11 a.m., WTIC airs a half-hour newscast. Beginning next week, the station will scrap the 11 a.m. newscast and tack an extra hour to the morning show — making the expanded hours 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Logan Byrnes will continue to anchor the broadcast with meteorologist Joe Furey; Erika Arias, who began as morning co-anchor this week, will join them from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Meteorologist Rachel Frank, who is normally seen in the evenings on WTIC, will also be featured while Rachel Lutzker is on maternity leave. Geoff Fox will take over Frank’s evening duties in the interim.
