Harry Hawks Retiring As Hearst CFO

Hearst Television announced Monday that Harry T. Hawks, its EVP-chief financial officer, will retire in May after an entrepreneurial and corporate career that included the last 18 years in television.

After a number of accomplishments in corporate finance, investment banking and venture capital, Hawks joined with Bob Marbut in the founding of Argyle Television in 1992. Building the company through a series of acquisitions, divestitures, investments and organic growth funded with private equity and debt financings, Argyle Television went public on Nasdaq in 1995.

In 1997, Hearst Broadcasting contributed the majority of its broadcast assets to Argyle in exchange for a controlling interest in the newly named Hearst-Argyle Television. More…
