Harrisburg Anchor Files Complaint After Her Dismissal

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Iconic Harrisburg anchor Flora Posteraro is not backing down when it comes to her dismissal from WHTM.

She has filed a complaint against the Nexstar station saying her demotion and subsequent firing was retaliation.

In a complaint obtained by Penn Live, Postarero says last Summer she and other female employees filed an internal complaint against the station’s general manager, Robert Bee. In it, female employees made claims that Bee made several disparaging remarks about women in the newsroom.

When her contract was up in December 2017, Postarero says the station wanted to reassign the longtime weekday 5p.m. anchor to the weekend anchor seat. When she refused, Posteraro says she was let go.

The site reports that Posteraro believes the demotion came after her participation in the original discrimination complaint.

Posteraro filed a second internal complaint with Nexstar on Feb. 5, in which she claimed her demotion “was retaliation for her objections to Bee’s treatment of female employees.”

In that case, the company concluded – after what Posteraro and her attorney contend was an incomplete investigation – that there was no retaliation.

Penn Live reached out to Bee for comment but he declined.
