Gunshots Fired at Courthouse While WAVY Crew Was Inside

By Kevin Eck

A crew for Portsmouth, Va., NBC affiliate WAVY was inside a local courthouse when they heard gunshots.

Reporter Lex Gray said she and photographer Rob Rizzo heard the shots, but didn’t realize until later what they were.

In a live shot, Gray showed off a bullet hole in the window of an office she was heading to when it happened. No one was injured in the shooting.

One of the deputies responding to the scene saw a car speeding from the courthouse. Investigators were also led to evidence a couple of blocks away from the scene. That scene is also under investigation.

Lex is reporting that deputies have recovered two 9-mm handguns, and what they believe are the suspects’ clothing about two and a half blocks from the courthouse. Deputies will be pulling fingerprints from the recovered guns, and doing ballistic and DNA testing on them
