Guamay Martell Starts Her Career at Telemundo 31

Guamay Martell has been hired by Telemundo 31 in Orlando, Fla. as a multimedia journalist.

“We are happy to have Guamay join our dynamic and award-winning reporters’ team,” said Miguelangel Lopez, vice president of news for Telemundo 31. “We trust that her passion for journalism and commitment to the viewers will have a positive impact on our audiences and the Telemundo 31 news family.”

Martell is a recent graduate of the University of Florida. While there, she worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for the college newscasts, WUFT News and Noticias WUFT.

She was also part of Telemundo Local Academy, the Telemundo Station Group preparation program for journalism students. The program features four study tracks: digital media, multimedia journalism, writing/producing and on-air presentation/career development. Throughout the program, students receive in-person training sessions from journalists and leaders who are working at NBC and Telemundo stations.

Martell’s on-air debut will be next month.
