Peters-Head-Shot-1-239x300Peter Maroney, general manager at Denver’s Fox affiliate KDVR and CW affiliate KWGN, has announced his decision to “semi-retire” this summer.

Maroney told the Denver Post that he has “decided to do some other things in [his] life.” But Maroney’s not out the door quite yet: “I have lots of things to figure out before I go, not the least of which is May sweeps. It’s been a great run here.”

Maroney, who’s been at KDVR-KWGN for the past five years, has 15 years of experience in TV management. He’s worked at Richmond, Va. CBS affiliate WTVR, Portland CBS affiliate KOIN and San Francisco CBS O&O KPIX, among other stations.

Maroney has plenty of projects lined up for his semi-retirement:

I want to do some short personal films. I’ve got some subjects that have interested me for a long time. Call it urban anthropological filmmaking.

Maroney also plans to travel and spend time with his family. As far as his replacement is concerned, Maroney said, “Tribune will make [the] decision about the next general manager.”

His last day is June 26.
