Fox News Wins Big on Election Night

It was an election night that had anchors and analysts buzzing across the dial. At MSNBC Rachel Maddow could hardly contain her excitement for a night that included key primaries in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Kentucky. “I’m vibrating off my seat,” Maddow told Keith Olbermann.

Looking at the night’s ratings, though, Fox News staffers are probably the ones having trouble staying in their seats. The “Fair and Balanced” network scored a big win for “Super Tuesday 2010,” as The Huffington Post is calling it. According to Nielsen, Fox News averaged just over 2 million total viewers for the evening and actually beat CNN, MSNBC and HLN combined in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo.

It was a significant victory for Fox but it wasn’t the only win for the network that evening. Fox’s polarizing correspondent Sarah Palin had what TV critic David Zurawik called “her best performances as an analyst since joining the channel.” More…
