Lena Maria Arango has been named weekend morning meteorologist at Fox-owned KRIV Houston.

Arango, who starts Sept. 4, was previously the weekend morning meteorologist and MMJ for WGGB in Springfield, Mass.

KRIV vice president and news director Susan Schiller said Arango is the “perfect addition to our strong Gulf Coast Weather Authority team.”

“Lena Maria brings in-depth knowledge of weather forecasting and climate research, and she’s ready to apply that experience to inform viewers on how to prepare for their daily lives,” said Schiller.

In addition to weekend anchoring, Arango will also contribute to Houston’s Morning Show on weekday mornings. She will provide weather reports in both English and Spanish for KRIV’s digital platforms.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the FOX 26 family,” said Arango. “I love the south, and the warmth of its weather and people. After growing up and starting my career in the northeast, I’m looking forward to trading covering blizzards for covering hurricanes.”
