Tuscon, Arizona station KGUN announced Monday that Forrest Carr joined their team last week as News Director. Carr led the KGUN news department from 1997 to 2001, during which time he launched the viewer advocacy program, “On Your Side.” Carr says the show aimed at “giving voice to the voiceless.”

In 2001, Carr left for Florida, to serve as news director for Tampa’s WFLA. He then moved into the same role at WFTX in Ft. Myers, where he launched another viewer advocacy program called “In Your Corner.” In 2008, Carr came back to Arizona when he was named news director at KRQE in Albuquerque.

“Forrest continues to successfully evolve the viewer advocacy brand of journalism to bring bigger benefits to news reporting,” said VP and GM of Tucson Operations Julie Brinks. “We are pleased to have him back in our organization and look forward to the opportunity to take our premiere products in Tucson to a new level of success.”

“KGUN is a wholly different station than when I left. It was not owned by Journal Broadcast Group at the time,” Carr explained. “The station now has a multi-media opportunity to serve the audience with radio, television stations and interactive media under one roof. It’s an exciting time to be back in Tucson and back working for Journal.”
