Former WXIA Anchor Sam Crenshaw Joins WAGA

By Aneya Fernando

sam-crenshaw-2014Veteran sports anchor Sam Crenshaw was let go from WXIA last summer after 16 years at the Atlanta NBC affiliate.

Many wondered what Crenshaw would do next. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has the answer: Crenshaw has joined rival Fox O&O station WAGA, on a freelance basis.

Crenshaw announced the news on Facebook:

Good Morning FB Family.Just wanted you to know that starting next week I will be working at WAGA-TV FOX5 on a part time basis. It is a full circle moment for me, as I was an intern for sports and video editor for news at WAGA 1984-85. Looking forward to working with the sports team that is “IN YOUR FACE “!! ‪#‎Thankful‬

Crenshaw will be replacing weekend sports anchor Merissa Lynn, who is leaving WAGA after two years for a gig at Tampa Fox O&O WTVT.

Crenshaw’s first day at WAGA is April 11.
