Former WTMJ Reporter to Re-Join Station

It’s official. George Mallet starts at Milwaukee NBC affiliate WTMJ as weeknight evening anchor today.

Mallet worked at WTMJ from 2007 until 2011 when he left to anchor at WPTZ in Plattsburgh, New York.

“George and I have a long history,” said WTMJ news director Janet Hundley. “We worked together in North Carolina and I learned so much from him. He’s a great writer and journalist. I’m already so proud of our team here at TMJ4. It’s great to have George back home to be part of our future.”

Milwaukee TV critic Duane Dudek first reported the news.

The hiring of Mallet presumably puts an end to speculation about who will replace Jacobs, who was the longest serving anchor in Milwaukee, and why it took so long to reach a decision. Since Mallet left, of course, WTMJ has undergone ownership changes, from Journal Communications to E.W. Scripps.
