Jackie Hyland has been named public information officer for the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Hyland left WRAL in June after working at the Raleigh, N.C. CBS affiliate for more than three years.

“Jackie brings a wealth of experience to the position,” said elections board executive director Kim Westbrook Strach. “We are thrilled she chose to serve our state’s voters during a critical time for elections in North Carolina.”

In April, Hyland told viewers she had been recovering from voice problems after being diagnosed with Dysphonia.

“From the rollout of voter ID to investigations and the presidential election, I look forward to keeping the public informed,” said Hyland.
