A man who wore many hats at WPRI has died.

Glenn Laxton worked at the Providence, R.I., CBS affiliate for more than 40 years as a reporter, anchor, assignment manger, news manager and community affairs director.

“Toward the end of his career, he was best known for his inspiring ‘Not to be Forgotten’ stories, in which he explored the history of our community,” writes WPRI.

“A perfect gentleman. Rest in peace. To Glenn’s loving family, my thoughts and prayers are with you,” Golocalprov reports WJAR anchor Patrice Wood wrote on Facebook.

Laxton was 74.
