Former WNBC Anchor Sue Simmons Returns to Television … On ‘Law & Order’

Sue Simmons, who was ousted at WNBC earlier this year after three decades at the NBC O&O, is returning to the television business.

The New York Post reports Simmons will guest star on the two-part season premiere of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” as a reporter named, naturally, Sue Simmons.

The show’s executive producer, Warren Leight, told the Post that Simmons was the first person who came to mind when the part was being cast.  “Any time Sue wants to come back, it would be fun to have her on,” he said. “She’s a real pro. Everyone in New York has a great affection for her.”

During her final WNBC newscast in May, Simmons noted she hoped to be employed elsewhere, “even if it’s maybe just once a week.”
