Since her 29-year career in television news ended in 2006, Janet Peckinpaugh has dabbled in community theater, made television infomercials and launched a public relations consulting firm.
Now, the 59-year-old former news anchor is poised to enter politics: Peckinpaugh, who recently switched her political registration from unaffiliated to Republican, is running for Congress in Connecticut’s 2nd District.
“I’ve been spending the last week really talking to delegates and listening to what they have to say,” Peckinpaugh said in a voice mail message Thursday afternoon. “I’m really excited. My background as a journalist taught me how to listen and get the facts and ask for answers.” More…
