Former WDBJ anchor Chris Hurst plans to run as a Democrat for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Hurst’s girlfriend Alison Parker was a reporter at the station and was murdered along with cameraman Adam Ward while the two were doing a live shot for the Roanoke CBS affiliate’s morning show in 2015.
“I’ll be able to develop some different routines that [are] not a constant reminder of some of the emotional pain that I have been having to face over the past year and a half,” Hurst told the Roanoke Times. “But I am really excited to be a part of that community and run for the House of Delegates as a Democrat for this November’s election.”
Hurst intended to stay at WDBJ until the end of February, but announced he was leaving last week.
