Former WCTI Anchor Virginia Foye Dies

virginia-foyeVirginia Foye, a former news anchor at Greenville-New Bern ABC affiliate WCTI, died early Tuesday morning. WCTI reports Foye died of heart failure just after midnight. She was 62:

Virginia was NewsChannel 12’s morning anchor for 26 years, and the first African-American anchor in Eastern North Carolina. She joined our station 1976.

She worked alongside Skip Waters during her career. The two were close friends – and stayed in touch up until Skip’s passing.

Virginia had one stroke in the 1990’s and rallied from that to work again. She then had a major stroke in 2002 and had to stop working.
