Former Syracuse Anchor Dies At 54

Former WSTM anchor and Newsradio 570 WSYR anchor, Kevin Schenk, has died and today calling hours for colleagues and listeners are being held in Watertown, New York.

According to the station, Schenk was 54 when he suffered a ruptured aortic aneurysm on Thursday.

“Kevin was an outstanding journalist who loved to dig for a story and was always fair in his reporting,” says iHeartMedia president in the Syracuse market, Rick Yacobush. “As a coworker, Kevin was always there with his quick wit to put a smile on your face and he was a truly wonderful man.

Schnek was an anchor for the NBC affiliate in Syracuse in the early 2000’s.

He is survived by his wife, son and several grandchildren.
