Former San Antonio Anchor Fred Lozano Dies

Former KENS anchor Fred Lozano has died after what former colleagues called a silent battle with Leukemia. He was 67.

“I am both stunned and saddened by the news of Fred’s passing,” said former co-anchor Vicki Buffolino. “Fred was truly one of the original journalists, who lived and breathed news. He was always on top of his game but what many might not know was that Fred was funny and loved to sing. He would often sing through the commercial breaks and keep us all laughing. Mostly though, Fred loved his family. He will be missed among those of us who loved him but also in the field for which he dedicated his life.”

Lozano started his career at NBC affiliate WOAI in 1972 and began working at KENS in 1977. He retired form the CBS affiliate in 2012.
