Former Raleigh Anchor Larry Stogner Dies

Larry Stogner, former anchor for WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, has died. He was 69.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved husband, father, and friend Larry Stogner on October 3rd,” Stogner’s family wrote on Facebook.

Stogner started his career at UNC TV and later worked at WRAL in Raleigh. He started at WTVD in 1976 and was named an anchor in 1982.

“There is much to say. Larry had an incredible career here at ABC11 and led our newsroom for decades,” said Caroline Welch, president and GM of WTVD. “We will pay him the proper tribute as we have time to absorb this news.”
