Former WECT chief meteorologist George Elliott was injured in a hit-and-run accident last week.
In a statement, the station said he was riding his bike when a dark colored SUV hit him on a street in Wilmington, N.C.
Elliott suffered serious but nonlife threatening injuries and was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He spent 14 years at the Raycom-owned station in Wilmington before leaving in 2008.
