Former KSAT Sportscaster Greg Simmons Gets Probation in DWI Case

Former KSAT sports anchor Greg Simmons has been sentenced to a year’s probation on the DWI charge that ended his career.

Simmons plead no contest Tuesday to a charge of driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or higher, twice the legal limit, Bexar County court records show. He was also was fined $500.

The former KSAT sportscaster resigned from the San Antonio days after his arrest on Jan. 27, 2023.

The San Antonio Express News said Simmons was driving a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe erratically in the Stone Oak area, drifting from lane to lane. After being pulled over, Simmons didn’t know what street he was on and told deputies he was returning home from the Green Lantern, a speakeasy-like bar. Asked for his license, he handed a deputy a gold American Express card, the report said.
