Jan Hardy, who anchored newscasts for Lake Charles, Louisiana NBC affiliate KPLC for nearly a decade, died Thursday. She was 59. “She had a way of charming and disarming those she interviewed with her conviction, sincerity and winning smile,” reads her official obituary.
According to KPLC, Hardy anchored the noon and five p.m. newscasts for most of the 1980s, leaving the station in 1990. She received her doctorate and worked in the pharmaceutical industry.
The cause of death was not released.
