Former CBS46 Meteorologist Sues Station

Former WGCL meteorolgoist Paul Ossmann is using the Meredith owned station in Atlanta for “racially and ethnically discriminatory termination.” He also accused his former employer of fostering a “racially hostile work environment.”

The station has responded to the suit saying Ossmann was terminated in the spring for cause “based on multiple complaints from female co-workers of conduct that violated our workplace policies.”

In a statement, the station included statements from three employees named in the lawsuit, Jennifer Valdez, Thomas Roberts and former anchor Sharon Reed.

“Paul Ossmann’s attempts to humiliate and divert attention from his own actions cannot be tolerated. I am proud of our accomplishments at CBS46 and I will not let Mr. Ossmann diminish our team or me,” said Jennifer Valdez. “Paul Ossmann knows the whole truth and he knows it directly from me. The allegations leveled against Sharon and me are baseless and lies. I am prepared to defend myself against his claims,” said Thomas Roberts. “Mr. Ossmann’s lawsuit makes repeated false statements about me and presents others out of context. I am
pleased that Meredith intends to vigorously defend me against these false and damaging claims,” said Sharon Reed.

AJC.com writes the lawsuit was filed on July 12. Ossmann is seeking lost wages, compensatory damages in part for “emotional pain” and “mental anguish,” as well as punitive damages and attorney’s fees.

The publication also said he plans to use letters in the case about Ossmann that were passed between Thomas and Reed on the anchor desk, which were released by FTVLive.
