Former WKBW anchor Lia Lando is returning to the Buffalo ABC affiliate to fill in during the holidays.

The Buffalo News reports that Lando will cover for Ashley Rowe starting next week. Rowe, who is on maternity leave, plans to return at the beginning of January.

Lando left WKBW in June 2018. She left her job as a morning co-anchor for WROC in Rochester last month.

In an Instagram post, Lando said “the road keeps leading me back to Buffalo!!”

“I LOVE the people in this fine city …. always so kind and welcoming,” she wrote. “I’ve missed them. Happy to be going back.”

Buffalo News media writer Alan Pergament said Lando has worked as a fill-in anchor at Buffalo stations before. He writes:

Lando also briefly worked as an interim anchor at WIVB-TV (Channel 4) after Lisa Flynn left the station in 2009. She co-anchored at 5:30 p.m. weekdays on Channel 4 and at 10 p.m. on WNLO in 2010 and also anchored Channel 4’s weekend morning shows temporarily.

Lando also had a role on One Life To Live in 2002 and played an anchor on the HBO show Succession.
