Former Anchor Says She’s Decompressing After Years of Reporting on Crime

Nicole Livas says she’s “winding down” after leaving Norfolk, Va., NBC affiliate WAVY in March.

“I’m looking forward to getting some much-needed rest and the chance to decompress after years of working the night shift and reporting mostly on stories about crime,” Livas told the Virginian-Pilot. “That creates anxiety. It wears on you. I’m ready for a break from meeting deadlines, adjusting to tight schedules and sitting at the anchor desk while constantly hearing through my earpiece, ‘Stand by.’”

Livas worked at WAVY for 14 years and became a main anchor at the station in 2013.

She’s moving to Washington, D.C. to join her husband, who has been working in the area. “The opportunities in the media, media relations and corporate communications are fairly endless,” said Livas. “I have faith that I will find the right job when the time is right.”
