First President Bush Writes Letter to Newborn Son of Texas Anchor

KBTX anchor Meredith Stancik recently gave birth to son Declan William McAuliffe.

According to KBTX, Declan’s father Shane McAuliffe, who was a reporter at the Bryan-College Station, TX, CBS affiliate “reached out” to some contacts at the Bush Presidential Library and Museum.

This week, the youngest McAuliffe got a letter from George H.W. Bush, the 90-year-old former president known for his letter writing.

“Declan, I, too, was born on June 12th — but that was 90 years ago,” wrote Bush. “I’ve had a long, wonderful life, and I wish the same for you. God bless you.”
