First on the Scene, WCBS Shoots Exclusive Footage of Helicopter Crash Rescue

By Merrill Knox

As we told you yesterday, CBS owned-and-operated WCBS was the first New York City station to report on the deadly helicopter crash in Manhattan’s East River. According to a station spokesperson, the WCBS news helicopter was also the first news helicopter on the scene, catching the only aerial footage of the rescue efforts (watch above).

Framegrabs from the exclusive footage were picked up by the Associated Press and widely used — with a mandatory WCBS credit — in several different newspapers this morning.

WABC, WNBC and WNYW are using amateur video of the rescue shot from a different angle, which you can watch after the jump.
