First Day for New WFAA Traffic Anchor

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WFAA has a new morning traffic anchor – she comes from Vegas.

Demetria Obilor started at the Tegna-owned station in Dallas this morning. Anchors Ron Corning and Alexa Conomos introduced her to viewers on Friday. Her first day was this morning.

The show’s executive producer, Sheena Autin, told the Star-Telegram the morning show is aiming for a look. It’s “upbeat, shedding the predictable sound and feel of local morning news. It closes the loop on a gradual transformation of our content to become a social-first, multi-screen show.”

The station hired a social media anchor over the Summmer.

Obilor comes from the CBS affiliate, KLAS, in Las Vegas. She made news last Spring after a viewer made a racist comment on social media about her hair.

Obilor will also take on hosting duties.
