Fired From CNN, Outspoken Sanchez Has Everyone Talking

By Andrew Gauthier

CNN moved swiftly in dismissing Rick Sanchez on Friday following a Sirius XM interview in which the outspoken anchor called Jon Stewart a bigot and critically intimated that CNN was run by Jews.

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company,” CNN announced simply in a Friday statement.

On Saturday, Stewart joked about Sanchez’s comments during the taping of a Comedy Central special. Teasingly affirming Sanchez’s view of Jews in the media industry, Stewart said, “All he has to do is apologize to us, and we’ll hire him back.”

While Sanchez has kept quiet since his dismissal, there has been no shortage of media discussion on the topic, including on Sanchez’s former network. CNN’s “Reliable Sources” ran a highlight reel of sorts on Sunday morning. Appearing on the show, former CNN correspondent Jamie McIntyre called Sanchez “kind of a joke.” (CNN video)
