Evy Ramos Says She Was Fired From WOAI

WOAI anchor Evy Ramos told the San Antonio Express-News she was fired from the Sinclair-owned station Friday.

“When I came into the station, our general manager John Seabers told me they were exercising the termination clause in my contract,” said Ramos. “He told me he didn’t think it was working, referring to the (ratings) numbers. I was literally blindsided. My contract wasn’t even up.”

“I don’t even know what to say,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I walked into work today, only to be told it was my last day. It was a complete and total shock.”

Ramos has been anchoring at the San Antonio NBC affiliate since 2014. When asked about a replacement, station GM John Seabers told the Express-News viewers would see “a lot of” Ramos’ co-anchor Randy Beamer.

“I thought everything was going really well. I love my job. I love working with Beamer,” said Ramos. “I love telling stories. I love working with the community. I love singing the National Anthem at events.”

Sinclair stations have been trimming anchors in the last month. Last week, we reported on cuts at KATU in Portland, WJLA in Washington, D.C., WBFF in Baltimore, Maryland and WBMA in Birmingham, Alabama.
