Eric Lerner Named GM at WNBC

NBC-owned stations announced this morning that Eric Lerner has been named the successor to Michael Jack as general manager of New York flagship WNBC. Lerner will report to Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. “Eric Lerner has done a great job revitalizing WCAU and making it a strong and very competitive station in a difficult market,” said Staab. “With his vision and leadership, I know Eric will continue to build on the momentum generated by Michael Jack and his team and take WNBC to the next level.”

Lerner, who joined WCAU in 2012, previously worked as GM at KIRO in Seattle, and news director at WLS in Chicago and KING in Seattle.

WNBC announced last December that Jack would step down this June. Jack joined WNBC from WRC in Washington in 2010. He started his career at with WABC in New York in October 1977. He was an account executive for ABC Spot Sales in Chicago before working for KGO in San Francisco. He spent 10 years as sales manager at Capital Cities National Sales Office in Los Angeles, leaving in 1996 to work at KNBC as VP of Sales. He has also worked as GM of WCMH in Columbus.
