KVIA reporter Pilar Arias was wrapping up an ‘exclusive’ story that wasn’t so exclusive when she told viewers, “I would like to thank the El Paso ISD Public relations team for giving me this information tonight to give it to your first before you hear it anywhere else.”
The El Paso Times, which first reported the shout out, also notes the story about major changes coming to local schools had been on its website before Arias reported it for KVIA.
[KVIA managing editor Eric] Huseby and KVIA General Manager Kevin Lovell said it’s not station policy to thank sources or PR teams for information, and are not sure why Arias did so.Advertisement
