Detroit’s WXYZ Adds Meteorologist Chris Edwards

By Andrew Gauthier

Detroit ABC-affiliate WXYZ has hired veteran meteorologist Chris Edwards.

Edwards is a familiar face to Detroit viewers, having served as chief meteorologist for Fox-affiliate WJBK, before leaving in 2004 to spend more time with his family and start his own weather education business.

“We’re thrilled to have Chris on our team,” said WXYZ’s chief meteorologist Dave Rexroth.  “We feel that with Chris on staff, we have the most experienced forecast team in the market.”

Before WJBK, Edwards worked at Milwaukee’s WISN and Philadelphia’s KYW.  He began his weather career in the U.S. Air Force.

“Chris brings more than 30 years of forecasting experience,” said news director Tim Dye.  “His first-hand knowledge will be a tremendous asset to our viewers.”
