Detroit Station Names New Evening Anchor

By Kevin Eck

Kimberly Gill will replace the retiring Carmen Harlan as co-anchor of the WDIV 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscast.

Gill will join Devin Scillian after Harlan retires on November 11.

To pay her way through college, Gill drove 18-wheelers for FedEx and fueled commercial and private planes for Eagle Aviation. She’s anchored the 5:30 p.m. newscast since December 2015.

“Hiring Kimberly has been one of the best decisions that the station has ever made. She is a true journalist, a compassionate storyteller and embodies the heart, work ethic and intelligence needed to tell the stories of Detroit,” said vp and GM Marla Drutz. “We knew that whoever was going to sit next to Devin Scillian and be a leader in our newsroom, was going to have to be the real deal. Kimberly is the real deal. She is going to be a big part of this TV station for many years to come.”
