Syma Chowdhry is leaving Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ after five years.

“The pandemic has put different perspectives on life, and I’m moving my family back to the East Coast because that’s where my family is,” Chowdhry told the Detroit Free Press.

“I love Detroit,” said Chowdhry, whose last day is Wednesday. “I want to be an honorary Detroiter.”

Chowdhry started working at WXYZ in February 2016. Before that, she worked at CBS-owned KYW in Philadelphia. She’s also worked at News 12 New York/New Jersey and Detroit CBS station WWJ.
