Detroit Anchor Remains on Leave After Sexual Harassment Allegations

WXYZ anchor Malcom Maddox remains on administrative leave after a station employee came forward accusing the Detroit newsman of sexual harassment.

On Wednesday morning a local Reverend, who is representing the accuser, held a press conference alleging harassment by Maddox and a subsequent coverup by the ABC affiliate’s management.

The Scripps-owned station’s general manager and vice president, Mike Murri, said “”WXYZ is actively investigating allegations made in the press conference.”

Murri told Crains “the station took action immediately following the accusations and informed Maddox he has been put on leave. Murri said the station is developing a timeline for investigating the accusations.”

WXYZ streamed the 30 minute press conference. It is unclear how long the morning anchor will be on leave from the station.
