The coronavirus has hit home for one Detroit newsroom.
WDIV morning anchor Evrod Cassimy is home and recuperating from COVID-19.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Cassimy said “he is overwhelmed but is on the mend as he rests at home.”
When describing his experience, Cassimy told the newspaper it was the worst pain of his life.
“I remember finally getting up one day to go get medicine and collapsing on the stairs and just sobbing because my body would not allow me to move without excruciating pain,” Cassimy said.
After his doctors wouldn’t see him, he finally checked himself into a hospital, which confirmed his COVID-19 diagnosis.
He has assured viewers he would be OK and that he’s taking time to recover.
“Please keep praying. For all those fighting coronavirus, I’m fighting with you and I know it’s not easy. To those who have lost loved ones to this disgusting virus, my heart goes out to you,” he said.
His co-anchor is doing fine, and WDIV reported the newsroom is being disinfected daily.
