Denver’s KDVR Drops Trailblazing Sportscaster

Marcia Neville, the popular local TV sports personality who made the drama of high school sports her specialty, is off the field, the latest victim of fiscally mandated media cuts.

KDVR-Channel 31 declined to pick up Neville’s contract, which expires next week.

Neville, the first female sports broadcaster in Colorado, has focused on high school sports for Fox 31 for two years.

The station was committed to “covering kids better than anyone ever had,” she said. “It was the best experience in my whole 20 years in the business.”

She previously worked at KCNC-Channel 4 for 24 years, building her high school sports franchise. In August 2007, Fox 31 picked up Neville’s “SportsWoman” series and expanded her weekly report to a half-hour on Saturday nights. More…
