Denver Station Sees 1 Meteorologist Leave, Another Arrive

By Kevin Eck

Meteorologist Jennifer Broome is leaving Denver Fox and CW affiliate KDVRKWGN three days before meteorologist Matt Makens’ first day on air.

The Denver Post reports Makens will be the meteorologist for the 4 and 7 p.m. newscasts on KWGN starting Monday, June 20.

“I can’t divulge exactly what it is (Broome) will be doing but I can tell she’s moving to a top 10 market for an entirely new kind of challenge!” News director Holly Gauntt told The Post. “Jenn has deep ties to Colorado and will be back here on a regular basis. She still wants to turn Explore Colorado stories when/if time allows when she’s back in town, which she plans to be a lot.”

Makens last worked at KMGH in Denver. Broome, whose last day is Friday, June 17, worked at WOAI in San Antonio, Texas for nearly a decade before joining KDVR-KWGN in 2010.
