Denver Station Names Sports Anchor, Adds Former Super Bowl Champ

Denver CBS-owned station KCNC has named Michael Spencer (right) as its main sports anchor and has added two-time Super Bowl champion and former ESPN host Mark Schlereth (pictured left) as a sports analyst and reporter.

“We are very excited to bring Michael Spencer on as our primary sports anchor,” said news director Tim Wieland. “He’s an exceptional sports broadcaster and together with Mark Haas and Mark Schlereth we will continue delivering the best sports coverage in the market to Colorado viewers.”

Spencer will anchor alongside Jim Benemann and Karen Leigh and report Sunday through Thursday at 5, 6, 6:30 and 10 p.m.

He comes to KCNC from WATE in Knoxville, Tenn. where he’s been sports director since 2014. Schlereth will report in the football off season. During the season he will co host XFINITY Monday Live and will do analysis on All Access on Sunday nights.
