Denver CBS Station to Focus on Local Races in Election Coverage

By Kevin Eck

Denver CBS owned station KCNC said it is planning to cover the upcoming election “in a different way than ever before” with neighborhood reporting.

Because of its recent switch to neighborhood newsrooms where “every journalist, including all members of the news team, regularly covers important local news in their own backyards,” the station said it will not only cover the big races, but also races that directly impact individual geographic areas.

“The big races get lots of attention–but it is really the local issues, the community issue, that can have some of the deepest impact on your life,” said news director Kristine Strain. “We are leveraging our team of community journalists to not only cover the candidates, but the community. We will be looking at the issues on your ballot that impact your wallet, your sidewalks, your schools, fire departments and even your open space. Casting your vote matters and we want to make sure that our coverage matters to you.”
