DC Mayor Cancels WTTG Interview After Metro Tragedy

By Kevin Eck

WTTG, the FOX owned Washington, D.C. station, had an interview scheduled this morning with new Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Mayor Bowser cancelled the interview last night. Her senior communications officer sent an email instead. “Unfortunately, we will have to reschedule Mayor Bowser’s appearance for another day in the very near future. We apologize for the inconvenience, and look forward to working with you in the coming days to secure a new date.”

The interview was on the books before Monday’s Metro incident, where one person was killed when hundreds of commuters were trapped on a DC Metro train after smoke filled a tunnel on the system’s Yellow line.

WTTG is looking for answers about what happened Monday. “What actions has she taken so far to get answers from Metro?” the station posted on its website. “What oversight and powers does the city over Metro? What’s being done to fix reported communication problems involving the D.C. Fire Department’s response?”

TVSpy asked Bowser’s office for comment, but hasn’t heard back.
