DC Anchor Says Tearful Goodbye After 15 Years

By Kevin Eck

Sarah Simmons said goodbye to viewers of Fox-owned Washington, D.C., station WTTG on Friday.

In an emotional goodbye, the 5 p.m. anchor, who has been with the station in January 2006, said it wasn’t an easy decision to leave, but she stressed that she wasn’t going far and would stay in the area.

“I’ve enjoyed meeting and telling the stories of many of you along the way. From the early morning hours where I brought you the news in your neighborhood, also the news in our backyard—Capitol Hill—to the evening hours where I brought you the news at 5, 6 and 11, the best part was meeting you, the viewer,” she said in a tearful address on air.

We’ve asked Fox about why she left, and will update this post when we know more.
